It’s been a lot of years in the making. I do not have Vitiligo but I do have a lot of empathy for those that do. It was 1998 when we started http://www.homephototherapy.com/ and began to chat with people with Vitiligo and many other skin challenges such as psorisais and eczema to name two. I have to admit that I knew very little about skin diseases at that time but exposure over the years to thousands of people has given me some insight and expertise that few others have.
When I chat with folks on the phone and help them with their vitiligo challenges, I do realize that few others have the background of The UV Guy, that’s me. The UV Guy moniker was bestowed on me earlier in this millennium by Randy Salter who introduced me as an expert in UV Phototherapy way back on 2001 or perhaps 2002 at a Vitiligo Support International meeting in Florida. The name stuck and I actually use it as a shortcut to my other blog at http://www.theuvguy.com/.
It really began in 1996 when the IT Manager at Richardson Electronics gave me a copy of Microsoft FrontPage and asked me to try to create a website on our intranet. I was the sales manager at the time for Richardson Electronics EDG and I spoke some geek and some english at the time. I created an intranet site and then a year or so later registered the domain name www.cane.com which back then was a website with photos of the family, my dog etc. Sort of typical of websites of that era.
I was chatting with one of my customers at the time who made facial sunlamps for tanning and he asked me if I’d be interested in trying to make a website for his company. After some research, I gave him what I thought was a reasonable price to do that and he said something like “Damn it Chris, that’s expensive! Why don’t you build your own f%^&ing website and sell my tanning lamps?” A few days later, we created Amjo Corp and our first website www.HealthyTan.com was born. Soon to be followed by www.sadlight.com, www.homephototherapy.com. Checkout www.amjo.net for some of the others.
